hello guys,
this is my 17th article on @substacks, I published my first article on may 10 2021 ( 1st and most important thing to change your life), 114 days from Sept 1 2021. wow, it’s been 100 days already, I have written my 1st article because of Ali Abdaal's video “how to build a website at 2021.”
after writing that article I never thought I will write another article. this was possible because of my friend. He texted me
, after this I thought “wow, someone read what I wrote, cool”. this is how it all started. a lot of my friends support me as well. and thanks to each and every one of you.
the platform doesn’t matter that much when you are starting but substack is a good platform to start. it’s easy to write, free website setup, free email newsletter platform, simple interface. for beginners substack is a good place to start, you will learn a lot about blogging on how to blog.
like
how to add numbers, dot points
how to add bold words or lines
how to create links my Twitter, my medium blog
how to insert images, videos to your blog
how to design your blog, website ( I am working on it)
how to write in a way to capitulate readers attention and provide value to them at the same time
how to highlight points
“Make stuff you love and talk about stuff you love and you’ll attract people who love that kind of stuff. It’s that simple.”
― Austin Kleon, Show Your Work!"The hardest part of starting a blog is posting your first blog, the hardest part of the workout is going to the gym, the hardest part of getting started investing is to make your first investment."how to build an audience etc….
its takes hours to write some good and long blog posts.
problem with substacks
it is good to write in substack, I was getting some views by sharing my articles on social media.
but, since few weeks my no. of views count became stagnant, there were no new signups to my e-mail newsletter. the problem is SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
that one view I got was from my mom. I tried searching my domain name on google devakinandan.substack.com , even typing devakinandan didn’t work.
medium
medium is great in SEO, one dude claimed she got 30,000 follows by writing on medium, without sharing her posts on social media, that’s cool.
my recent post on substacks didn’t get 20 views in a single day, but medium did. medium is great was for building audience, even new people not just friends. when some unknown persons liked my blog on medium it felt great. they liked it because they truly liked my post, it was awesome.
You will build an audience of thriving fans who are interested in your message. By writing on Medium, you can tap into its massive power and make use of the audience that is already there. Medium’s audience is huge, and millions of people are waiting to read great posts every day. If you write great content, your work will be exposed to the users, and you have a great chance of reaching people who resonate with your stories. All you need to do is write. No social media marketing, no emails, no asking every time your friends to read your posts. there are a lot of people who search for good content on medium.
finally, thanks my reading my post till the end. wish me luck on my blogging journey in medium, I hope you found something informative or useful from this post.
I will still be writing on substacks but more on medium so, follow me on medium, substacks as well if you haven’t yet.
stay healthy & stay curious,
Devakinandan
